bye 2006

in less than 12 hours it'll be 2007. Somehow im feeling sort of apprehensive about 2007. But maybe that's coz 2006 have been one of my best years ever.

Orientation 06
One year ago i would have already gotten the call from my ogl. Reaching rj's hall on the first day, i remember knowing absolutely no one from my og at all. But throughout the four days, i believe i've made good frens with some of them. Like many others, orientation's been one of the highlights of jc life so far. How can i forget out magnificent human pyramid outside kfc at j8, our X!!-pia-pia-pia-pia-pia cheer, idiot geek-look during onite, the last minute one hour attempt to come up with an onite item, and not forgetting our OGLs darren and charlene and the many wonderful and colourful characters in X-peia. Im proud to say X-peia's still surviving outside LT2. Even though i dont go there anymore, at least we're still frens and say hi along the way. Plus who's OG blog can say they have more than 200 entries. Now the tables are turned and orientation 07 is coming in 3 days. Hope the j1s will enjoy the stuff oteam have prepared.

School
in RJ we no longer had a home room to belong to. Once again we were floating around like in sec 1 and 2. But the major change would be the lecture and tutorial system. Actually i like this system quite alot. Plus i can say i've never pon lectures at all this year. For one thing i think it's too troublesome to copy from frens again later. Might as well just go and copy even if im not exactly listening. Also, rules are alot more slack than in RG.

07S06Q
Im staring at my very first class photo now, trying to consolidate my thoughts. Initially, i had very good frens in the class even though i didnt exactly think the class was really enthu or interesting. But as some left, i admit feeling kinda lonely during one period of time Unlike in secondary school where i had my group of frens to stick to, i really didnt know where i belong in the class. But thoughout the year, i guess i got use to it and made new frens, good frens as a matter of fact. Plus everyone..well almost everyone gets along with one another. And it's quite a colourful bunch of people actually. Really glad im feeling enthu about the class now esp during the hols where we had our first major class outing at my house, plus some smaller "class outing" to movies and even an overnite mahjong session at my house again. Really happy to be in the class lah. Next year let's all work hard and make teachers proud of our class!

PW
Probably the most hated aspect of academic life i've had this year in terms of the work we had to do. It's just saikang lah. Though we werent exactly that close as a PW group, we managed to pull it off and the last few meetings were pretty enjoyable i must say. ROCK ON! RJ 219!

Chinese dance
Really thankful to have gotten into chinese dance. The 16 people are truly a great bunch to hang around with. Trainings though tiring sometimes are always fun! Even though lao shi said i did chinese dance like a foreigner earlier on, i believe im looking more chinese by the day. Chinese dance has given me exposure to another form of performance/art other than rgym and im greatful for the experience i've had. Let's work hard for SYF next year. I dunno how im gonna cope with NUS H3 Geog and dance, but i'll work something out when the time comes.

Amarante
Dance nite was absolutely fabulous. I remember the endless practises we had months prior to the thing. Dance was on Mon, tue, wed, thur and sat. It was tiring no doubt, plus homework had to be put aside. But it's worth it if im doing what i like. Remember during yvonne's dance practise, we did stupid things like singing the school song in the tune of Barney's i love u u love me song and cheered for one another as we tried to zua1 our hou4 tui3. Once we even started crying together. As for dai3 zu3 dance, it was truly a J1 effort. Though many of us were hardly experienced in chinese dance, it was pulled off amazingly after much practice. Xin ying really did a great job choreographing and teaching us the dance. Kudos!! Finally, dance nite gave me exposure into different types of chinese dance-tribal, classical and comtemporary through the 3 dances i performed in. We became closer to one another, and the j1-j2 were also brought closer.
Plus plus..even the post dance nite muggin sessions together were fun as we tried to chiong all our uncompleted homework.

Next year's dance nite would be much smaller scale compared to this year. But we'll still put in our best to make it rock!

Rhythmic Gymnastic
Gym this year suddenly became so much slacker than in secondary school. From training 3-4 times a week for 3-4 hours each time, training was cut down to 2 times a week, 2-3 hours at most. Plus sometimes i went late coz of dance. Also, from having a coach to choreograph our routines and niao1 all our moves, all we had this year were ourselves and the art gym coach who couldnt help us that much. Thirdly, our fabulous training ground at ccab became RI's gym this year. No more nice r.gym mat. Instead, we got the green art gym mat that's seriously in need of repair. Coz it's more bouncy, we often trained either on the judo mat or on the floor.

Preparation for gym comp started really late this year. I only started choreographing my routine in mid may in places such as the canteen. We had to do everything ourselves this year. The confusing rules and the guidelines that took so long to be decided upon didnt help either. But to cut things short we got through it lah. Won 11/ 12 medals at the comp. This comp will probably be my last. Next year i dont think there'll be much time for training. After 5 years at gym, it's been all worth it. I've had my ups and downs, laughs and crys, cheers and consolations. Gym life will always be remembered. Hope the juniors next year will join gym again and compete or we might not have a team.

Common tests/ Promos/ Tests
Got really bad results for some tests this year including one single digit mark for this physics lecture test earlier on. It was pretty funny actually. Throughout the year, i've learnt to be more acceptable of such grades. Not that it's okay to do badly, but after all it's a learning process. Mug hard and ultimately it'll work out fine.

Didnt do really well nor really badly in the common tests. Grades ranged from B to E. But for promos i believe i worked hard enough within the time that i had. The school canteen was almost my first home. The september hols were practically spent in school from say 10am to 8pm. Thankfully i had great mugging companions- Huihui and Wan Chee and many others whom i could always consult for anything. I even made frens throuhg these mugging sessions. It's all paid off. Got my best results ever and it feels really great that my efforts werent wasted. Still, the most important exam lies in the A levels next year. I havent touched my books at all this hols. Im still scolding myself for wasting this hols away, not mugging, not clearing my room, not doing my homework. Still, im here blogging instead of mugging for SATS. There'll be alot of catching up to do next year. Hopefully with hardwork and frens to go along with me plus touching that stone that'll supposedly give good results in taiwan, my A level results will be something to be proud of. 5 As man!! Jiayou everyone!!

Oteam o7
Being in oteam has been damn fun. Being in decor, it's basically saikang. But my sub-sub com isnt that bad actually, dont really have that much to do compared to the banner people. Though im not one of the most involved in oteam, i try to be enthu when i can lah. These few days, onite dance prac have been really enjoyable, see everyone put in so much effort. Furthermore the dance is really fun to do.

We didnt really plan anything for the OG. But i hope the people in it will talk to one another and take the initiative to have like og dinners, or discuss strategies for their games etc. I really dun want moments when the whole OG sits around and stares at one another and dun talk. Whatever it is, it'll start in 3 days and im really looking forward to meeting the J1s plus all the activities and performances. LAMBADA!

Through oteam, i've also met more people, be it the random dance partners, friend's friends or just someone I see around and just talk. Really glad to have met all of them.

Friends!
In RJ, im really happy to have met so many people. Although we may just be hi-bye frens, it's always nice to just smile and wave when we meet along the corridors. But at the same time, im really happy that i can remain really good frens with many of my secondary school classmates and cca-mates and be able to talk about almost anything. I was quite afraid last year that alot of us would change and we would drift apart. Maybe that's true to a certain extend. But i've also become closer to many of them and appreciate the friendships much more. Like i said before, i think i've went on more outings with hui this year than the last two years combined. Plus im always damn happy and excited when the group of us can meet up or just see each other around school. Thanks hui, rachel, kelly, sabbie, sherri, angela, zhixu, aster, 6Q classmates, chinese dance mates and everyone else i know for being great pals!!
